چکیده
Abstract The interannual variability of the Northern Hemisphere winter climate is strongly linked to El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO). While North Pacific and America often exhibit a robust response ENSO, so-called Pacific–North (PNA) pattern, Arctic Eurasian responses ENSO remain elusive. This study examines 40 different models from Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 (CMIP6) find distinct temperature two types Niño events. Specifically, Central (CP) events are accompanied by significant pan-Arctic warming, whereas Eastern (EP) cooling over Barents-Kara Seas continent. During EP events, sea-level pressure (SLP) effectively strengthens, leading weaker westerlies surface air northern These do not appear clearly in reanalysis data, spanning 1979 2021, probably because small sample size since satellite era.

Northern High-Latitude Climate Changes During the Holocene as Simulated by Circulation Models
To simulate the evolution of Holocene climate, forcing factors for the northern high-latitude climate are examined using different numerical models. A global coupled atmosphere–ocean circulation model driven by astronomical forcing over the last 7,000 years shows a long-term sea-surface temperature decrease in the Nordic Seas region associated with changes in seasonal insolation. A continuous c...

This ten-year general circulation model experiment compared a simulation where land surface boundary conditions were represented by observed, present day land cover to a simulation where the surface was represented by natural, potential land cover conditions. As a result of these estimated changes in historical land cover, signi®cant temperature and hydrology changes aected tropical land surfa...
متن کاملDisentangling different types of El Niño episodes by evolving climate network analysis.
Complex network theory provides a powerful toolbox for studying the structure of statistical interrelationships between multiple time series in various scientific disciplines. In this work, we apply the recently proposed climate network approach for characterizing the evolving correlation structure of the Earth's climate system based on reanalysis data for surface air temperatures. We provide a...
متن کاملThe impact of El Niño events on the pelagic food chain in the northern California Current.
The zooplankton of the northern California Current are typically characterized by an abundance of lipid-rich copepods that support rapid growth and survival of ecologically, commercially, and recreationally valued fish, birds, and mammals. Disruption of this food chain and reduced ecosystem productivity are often associated with climatic variability such as El Niño events. We examined the varia...
